Can't answer yes or no:
Confession: I hate email. In my professional life as a lawyer I have (from the beginning!) found it stressful and hard to manage and endless. Stuff gets buried in it and it becomes boring data to manage in its own right. But email is the ultimate powerful tool for causing people to respond to you - so it is part of all Senates even if (like me) you dislike it. These days it also plays a part in authentication and we use it particularly as most professional users of Senate Sense (ie what are called "enterprise clients") will only allow employees to use their work email. We also have some clever stuff in our SSO (that's Single Sign On between you and me) which means that we can limit access to Senates through identification of particular "domain names" eg only people with a senatesense email can see the Senate and log in - useful for internal senates.
So we designed the Senate to do what sometimes you wish email would do - anchor your knowledge around key issues (we use a question format) and as a back and forth using comments to produce a flow of knowledge around that issue that you won't lose because it is buried in your inbox.....
For more on email as a hook and both an internal and external trigger (if you are designing a SaaS product) read the book Hooked and here's a nice summary. SenateSense is designed to work with this customer growth strategy, so there's nothing "wrong" with email, but you can make it easier for those of us (like me) who find it stressful! https://www.nirandfar.com/hooked/?utm_source…;

Other . . .:
Email has been mainstream in business since the 1990’s, its use is widely established, its proven, universal and flexible - I can contact individuals or bespoke groups (both inside and outside my organisation), store and search past communications and filter traffic.
In fact, we use it ourselves during the SenateSense onboarding process and for Notifications. However, email is not great for orchestrating private group or team discussions or for content access and retrieval. Security is always a significant risk with spoofing, phishing and potential for malicious file attachments. SenateSense makes online group discussions/debates simple and transparent with the added benefit of the security that comes with cloud-based technology.
